Cult favourite Usagi Yojimbo will be added to the game
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is getting a DLC expansion later this year.
The DLC, which will be titled Dimension Shellshock, adds a number of new features, including a new gameplay mode and new playable fighters.
The only new character announed so far is Usagi Yojimbo, the samurai rabbit who's something of a cult favourite among TMNT fans of a certain vintage.
The character initially appeared in a comic book series which started in 1984, and crossed over to TMNT in 1989 when he appeared on the animated series.
Yojimbo would eventually become a recurring character in various TMNT media over the decades.

As well as new characters, the DLC will add a "new game mode", details of which have yet to be shared.
It will also include new music tracks by Tee Lopes (who’d previously composed tracks for the main game, as well as Sonic Mania and Streets of Rage 4 [21 articles]" href="https://www.videogameschronicle.com/games/streets-of-rage-4/">Streets of Rage 4), and new colour palettes for the Turtles designed to represent different TMNT eras.
Publisher Dotemu [20 articles]" href="https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/dotemu/">Dotemu has yet to confirm a price or release date for the DLC, beyond simply "later this year".
TMNT: Shredder's Revenge was released in June 2022 to critical acclaim, gaining Metacritic scores between 85 and 87 (depending on format).
The game was developed by Tribute Games, which was co-founded by a trio of developers who had worked on Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game.
Like that title, Shredder's Revenge is a retro style beat ’em up, and serves as a spiritual successor to the ’90s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat ’em ups, in particular Turtles in Time – though the game has no connection with Konami [261 articles]" href="https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/konami/">Konami, which developed and published those titles.
As well as the four turtles, players can also choose to play as April O’Neil, Master Splinter and Casey Jones.
