WATERLOO — On Oct. 26, Seneca County residents will be able to recycle unwanted electronics, get confidential papers shredded and vote — all at the same location.

County residents can take unwanted household electronics and confidential documents to the north parking lot of the County Office Building from 9 a.m. to noon. Oct. 26 also marks the first day for early voting at the County Office Building and the nearby county Senior and Health Services Building on Bonadent Drive. To ease traffic flow, those going to vote early are asked to use the south parking lot off Thurber Drive.

The recycling event is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County, the county, and Seneca Meadows Inc.

No registration is required for electronics recycling and paper shredding. People can remain in their vehicle while SMI and CCE staffers and volunteers unload electronics and paper.

Acceptable electronics include computers and peripherals, TVs, scanners, audio equipment, cables, wires, cords, telephones, power tools, microwaves, and gaming systems. A complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items can be found at www.senecacountycce.org.

Confidential documents to be shredded include tax and business records, old bills, credit card statements, and medical records. People are asked not to bring junk mail, non-confidential files, or newspapers, all of which can be recycled in the blue bins. There will be blue recycling bins available for residents while supplies last.

Call 315-539-9251 or email [email protected] with questions about the event.
